Level 1 Meet 2008 Report
Our second gala of the year took place at Ponds Forge over the weekend of May 17th and 18th 2008, welcoming over 83 clubs from the UK.
First, congratulations go to James Pepper who attained a national entry time of 4.49.58 the 400 IM. Dale Waterhouse also obtained a national time in the 100m Free with a time of 55.75. Attaining a National time is a real challenge and is a milestone in any swimming career, so well done to James and Dale.
Holly Sotheran came 2nd in the Girls BAGCAT 9 Years category, whllst older brother Matthew Sotheran also came 2nd in the Boys BAGCAT 11 Years category. Metro finished 3rd in the Top Club award, which is quite an achievement when clubs such as Loughborough University took part.
From the 50 club members that attended the gala, here are those winners that appeared in the top 3 places.
Holly Sotheran (9) won Gold in 100m Free, 50m Fly, 200m Fly, 50m Back, 100m Fly, Silver in 200 IM, 50m Free, 200m Free and Bronze in 100m Back, 200m Back.
Dale Waterhouse (16) won Gold in 50m Free, 50m Breast, 100m Free and Bronze in 200m Breast
Matthew Sotheran (11) won Silver in 100m Free and Bronze in 100 Fly and 200 IM
James Pepper (17) won Silver in 50m Back, 400 IM and Bronze in 200 IM
Emily Shone (11) won Silver in 50m Back and Bronze in 50 Breast
Shauna Benson (17) won Silver in 50m Breast and 100m Breast
Claire Shortt (20) won Gold in 50m Breast
Silver medals were won by Ben Bainbridge (15) in 200m Fly and Tom Moxon (18) in 200m Breast
Bronze Medals were given to Alicia Hartley (9) 50m Breast, Maisie Elliott (10) 50m Breast, Danny Mclean (15) 50m Back and Josh Hillman (9) 100m Breast
