Yorkshire Masters 2008
A squad of 9 swimmers from Rotherham Metro Masters section, took part in the Yorkshire Open Masters Competition held at Scarborough North Bay pool on the 10th May. A total of 34 medals were won with both Alistair Crawford and Karen Holden taking Golds in all the events they entered. There were also strong performances from Claire Short, Helen Turner, Peter Ingham and Keith Godbehere. The results were as follows:-
Alistair Crawford came 1st in 50m Breast, 50m Free, 100m Breast, 50m Fly and 100m IM
Karen Holden came 1st in 50m Back, 50m Fly, 100m IM and 100m Back
Peter Ingham came 1st in 100m Fly, 100m Back, 100m Breast, 2nd in 200m Free, 3rd in 50m Breast, 50m Back, 100m Free and 4th in 50m Free and 50m Fly
Claire Short came 1st in 50m Breast and 100m Breast, 2nd in 50m Back, 100 Free, 100m IM and 50m Free
Helen Turner came 1st in 100m Breast, 2nd in 50m Back, 200m Free, 100m Fly and 3rd in 100m IM and 50m Free
Keith Godbehere came 1st in 100m Fly, 2nd in 200m Free, 3rd in 50m Back, 50m Fly and 4th in 100m Free and 100m IM
Sarah Dawes came 1st in 50m Fly, 3rd in 50m Free and 4th in 50m Breast
Michael Pepper came 4th in 100m Fly, 6th in 50m Fly and 50m Free
Michael Dawes came 5th in 50m Breast, 6th in 100m IM and 7th in 50m Free

The squad’s performance was fantastic with an amazing array of Medals and Personal Bests.
Everyone in the squad was delighted with their performances and the other clubs commented on how supportive each member was for one another. I am over the moon with everyone.
