NER BAGCATs 2008
A small group of Rotherham Metro swimmers took part in the above gala at Ponds Forge on 2 consecutive weekends in June. The competitors were Nicole Clarke, Emily Shone, Maisie Elliott, Adam Parkes, Matthew Sotheran, Adam Chandler, James Shiel, Josh Whitehurst and Aaron Waterhouse.
In the 11yrs age group finals Matthew Sotheran came 1st in the 1500m Freestyle and 800m Free, 3rd in the 100m Free, 6th in the 200m Free, 8th in the 200m IM and 100m Back and then 10th in the 400m Free. I bet you were exhausted Matthew!
In the girls 11yrs age group finals Emily Shone came 7th in the 100m Backstroke.
In the boys team events, which included Adam Parkes, Josh Whitehurst, Aaron Waterhouse, Adam Chandler and Matthew Sotheran. the teams were 8th in the 4 x 100m IM relay, 9th in the 4 x 100m Freestyle and 10th in the 4 x 200m Freestyle.
Finally, I forgot to mention in my last report that Alicia Hartley won a Gold medal for the 100m Breast event, belated congratulations Alicia.
