City of Sheffield No Frills 2010
A small squad of Rotherham Metro swimmers attended the Sheffield No Frills Gala at Ponds Forge on the 29th and 30th May, this meet attracts swimmers from all over Britain. This is a very high standard meet and listed are all the swimmers who finished in the top ten in their events.
Matthew Sotheran entered one event, the boys 800M free aiming to gain another National Qualifying Time which he duly delivered on his way to taking the Gold Medal. Matthews younger sister, eleven year-old Holly once again performed outstandingly by taking the gold in the 200m fly, 4th in the 400IM, 5th in 800m free and 6th in the 400m free.
In the 17 and over age group Dale Waterhouse once again raced to many top ten finishes that included, 6th in the 200IM, 7th 100m free, 8th in both the 100m back and 400m free. Thirteen year-old Emily Shone was placed 6th in the 200 back and 8th in the 100m back, Jessica Busby also thirteen came 7th in the 800m free. In the 17 and over Daniel McLean finished 6th in the 100 back and Thomas Nelson was placed 10th in the 200 back in the same age group Benjamin Bainbridge finished 10th in the 200 fly.
