Doncaster B Grade 2010


A team of Rotherham Metro’s younger swimmers competed at the Doncaster B Grade meet held in Beverley in May and came away with the honour of being the top club by a considerable margin. Fiona Connell was awarded top girl in the twelve-year age group category, Fiona won silvers in the 50 breast, 50 fly and 50 back as well as 4th in the 100 IM and 5th in the 50 free.

 

Nine year-old Jack Whitehurst won gold’s in the 50 free, 50 breast and silvers in the 50 fly and 100 IM and speeding ticket in the 50 back. Rebecca Finnie once again had an outstanding meet gaining speeding tickets in four out of the five events as well as a 5th place in the 10 year-old 50 breast. In the 13-year old girls events Jessica Busby gained gold’s in 100 free and 50 fly with a speeding ticket in the 100 back and a silver in the 100 IM as well as 4th in 100 breast. Lynn Shackshaft who took gold in the 100 breast with silver in the 100 back, 4th in the 100 free and 5th in the 50 fly and 100 IM. Nine year-old Adam Hedge and Eleven year-old Connor Wood gained a medal in all of their five events, Connor gaining gold in the 50 back silver in the 50 breast, 4th places in the 50 fly and 100 IM and 5th in the 50 free and Adam taking 2nd in the 50 back, 3rd in the 50 fly with 4ths in the 50 free and 100 IM and 5th in the 50 breast.

 

Twelve year old Rebecca and Nine year-old sister Kayley Britten both did extremely well in the medal stakes with Rebecca gaining gold in the 50 free, 4th in the 50 breast, 5th in the 100 IM and 6th in the 50 fly but not to be out done Kayley was 3rd in the 50 breast and 4th in the 50 free, 50 fly and 6th in the 100 IM followed by a speeding ticket in the 50 back. Rebecca Durn 10 was another competitor that was awarded a speeding ticket in the 50 back for being too fast along with a gold in the 100 IM, silver 50 breast, 4th and 5th in the 50 free and fly. Fast improving twelve year-old Alex Forth won Gold in the 50 breast, bronze s in the 100 IM, 50 back and was 5th in the 50 fly, another twelve year-old winning gold was Bryony Dawson in the 50 breast.

 

Eleven year-olds Thomas Hesling and Owen Lawrence both had a fantastic day with Thomas taking silver in the 50 back, bronze 50 free and 4th 50 breast, Owen was awarded a speeding tick in the 50 back, silvers 50 free and fly with a bronze in the 100 IM. Hannah Burges 9 won silver in the 50 back and 11 year-old Holly Fenwick won bronze in the 50 free, both Liam Blackwell 10 and Askhata Ammembai 9 took 6th place in there respective 50 fly races. Twelve year-old Eleanor Coleman was 5th in the 50 back and breast and also gaining a speeding ticket in the 50 breast was 10 year-old Abbie Ackroyd.

 

Other swimmers competing were; Heather Wellings, Adam Blackwell, Caitlin Wallis, Shannon Rickett, Lucy Handley and Lucy Fenwick.
